Stolen personal identity data. Over 10% of silicon.com’s readers think they’ve suffered it.
So what can an admin do to help avoid ID theft? Secure your network, especially private user, vendor and customer data. Best practice: Make servers with private data inaccessible from the web. Lock down the rest. Protect them with solid routers and keep them up-to-date. Use long complex passwords that change frequently.
And don’t forget internal thieves. Most sensitve data slips through your outbound mail servers, or the front door.
