Remember Apple’s counter-suit after Creative Technology filed against Jobs & Company for stomping on its patents?
Sounds like Apple’s charges were bogus.
Jobs now grumbles that CT was lucky, because it got there first. He’s shelling out US$100 million to make the whole thing go away.
As for CT… Now it’s the biggest iPod booster on Planet Earth.
What a difference a day makes.

Sometimes settling, even if you believe you could have won the case (AAPL probably would have), is the cheaper than drawn out legal battles.
And, as you say:”CT… Now it’s the biggest iPod booster on Planet Earth.”

BJ, you’re a moron. $100M to Apple is pocket-change to make the Creative-flea go away. I would characterize this as Apple buying Creative’s patents for little money, thereby enlarging their muli-billion dollar empire in music.

Hi TomB and Travis.
Your points are both well taken, even though Travis needs to spend a little quiet time for uncivil behavior.
I’m not sure where we disagree. If Apple’s lawyers thought its position was strong enough to kill CT, I have no doubt that Jobs would have gone for CT’s throat.
