Last November, I told you how the classified ad kings of craigslist banned Hotmail and Yahoo/BTinternet from subscriptions.

They surmised that Hotmail was actively blocking craigslisters, while Yahoo/BTinternet was deferring incoming email due to underpowered mailservers. To craigslist admins, the causes didn’t really matter much. The effect was constipated mailservers at craigslist. So they suspended subscription service to destinations at those sites.

Yahoo and Hotmail haven’t been the only email-based challenges to the free ad service. Over the years, craigslist has battled every stripe of spammer, harvester, flamer, scammer and worm.

Apparently, the chiefs have decided enough is enough. They’ve pulled the plug on subscription email services, “due to problems and abuse for which we have no good fixes.”

Which proves once again, that no good deed goes unpunished.

Sigh.
