How much are you willing to pay nearly anonymous Internet access, including P2P, VOIP and instant messaging? How ’bout US$6.40 a month?

That’s the charge, if you sign up for Relakks, a broadband service offered by Sweden’s Pirate Party, as it fights its way into Parliament.

Since users would be running all their financial and other personal dealings through Relakks servers, the Pirates could clean out all their accounts or engage in political shenanigans. Slyck’s Michael Ingram wondered what protections Swedish Pirates might offer.

Rickard Falkvinge, chairman of the Pirate Party, explained that, in the end, “it’s all about trust.”

Uh-huh.

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t trust any political party with my banking data, and I sure as heck wouldn’t extend my trust further down the chain.

And that goes double for pirates, even if they do have great prices.
