O’Reilly’s Preston Gralla has seen and heard enough.
He thinks the Steve Ballmer version of Microsoft has lost its way. Instead of concentrating on writing great operating systems and applications, Gralla fumes that the company proudly proclaims that “it’s in the gaming business, the search business, the services business, the hardware business, the portable media player business, the entertainment business…what’s next,” Gralla asks, “the apparel business?”
Nobody is as mad at Redmond as those of us who cheered as a group of smelly dropouts outfoxed big, bad, inbred, cloistered, pompous, clueless IBM… only to become big, bad, inbred, cloistered, pompous, clueless Microsoft. It really chaps my hide.
Which brings us to Google. You think anybody over there is old enough to remember?
After listening to the pompous ramblings on why it’s OK to collaborate with China authorities in suppressing obscene thoughts about freedom… I wonder.
