Angie: Record companies are spoiling for a fight against Yahoo China, the second largest search engine in the country.
They claim 90% of all recordings in China are illegal, and Yahoo makes it possible to download them by providing links to nonaffiliated websites, affronting a new Chinese law that provides for stiff fines against distributors of illegal copies of music and movies.
Can the world’s most proficient Internet censors muster the same enthusiasm for protecting copyrighted works?
The suit is expected to sorely test communist zeal for same.
