Hi, I don't think IBM is contributing enough to the OpenOffice project. There is "no" IBM engineer working on that project. We see engineers from SUN, Google, NOVELL, REDHAT; but there is none from IBM. They need to reconsider this.

@3 - What would be the purpose of IBM porting Smartsuite to linux when OpenOffice already exists?
For Notes-based linux client - see "Hannover".

I am still to see IBM port Lotus Notes Client, and Lotus Productivity Suite (123, etc) to Linux.

Let us have an all round solution IBM. If this not possible then what is the real point?

@jesse. Have you ever had a week where you fingers mutinied against your brain and your backups failed?

Welcome to mine. The fingers were recalling IBM's dropping of its patent infringement suit against SCO, with the explanation that SCO was just playing for time, and the patent infringement discovery process would give SCO the time extension it wanted (Oct 2005). D'Oh!

Thanks for your correction. Fixed.

There is an error:
"IBM contributions to the Linux community have helped bring the open source product up to enterprise quality. Its legal work has stiffened Linux's back in dealing with the SCO (microsoft) patent nonsense."

It doesn't involve "patent". It is a copyright and/or contracts issue (depending on which version SCO is using at the time).
