Staff: Twenty bucks a head. That’s what IBM’s willing to pay its sales partners for every seat they can twist from the clutches of Microsoft Exchange.

Lotus chief Ed Brill says, “The gloves are off…”

That’s a shame.

Earlier match-ups between the titans have left IBMers looking up from the mat. In fact, they still froth at the mouth when reminded of the OS/2 knockout.

In addition, price imbroglios are a much better fit for Microsoft’s pugnacious style than IBM’s. Redmond’s fighting at home.

In the interest of a fair fight, perhaps the ref will let everybody put the gloves back on.
