Although email service was murdered by a power outage, Wall Street Journal journal newshounds soldiered on. Among other things, Hanrahan and Fry write, “there was the vague, swimmy dread of being disconnected — the near-certainty that someone important out there was sending us email and getting increasingly infuriated by the lack of a reply.”
Luckily, the Journal had offsite backup mail storage, like that provided by the better email border security appliances. When email service returned, the scribes note, “it felt like a slow exhalation, like the world settling back onto its normal foundations.”
Sadly, we often don’t appreciate what we have till we’ve lost it. An occasional refresher course can be beneficial.
