Blacklister SPEW.org judged that Britain’s Telewest isn’t working hard enough to stop its customers from being taken over by zombies, so it added the entire IP range encompassed by Telewest’s blueyonder service to its blacklist. As many poorly constructed spam filters and routers rely on SPEW’s blacklists to stop traffic, a significant amount of email sent by 700,000 Telewest customers simply won’t make it to the recipients.

Unfortunately, SPEW-style justice requires an equal laying of the lash on responsible users along with the guilty.

Of course, Telewest is scrambling to make its new masters smile.
