Somebody in your org sends big, mission-critical files. Most don’t. Somebody regularly receives big files. Most don’t.
Those who don’t need to send or receive big files… shouldn’t. Big files coming in may hold family pictures… or harbour pornography. At best, they steal clock cycles from email servers, spam/content/virus filters, firewalls, the network and Human Resources. At worst, they thrust you into a world of bluescreens or courtroom histrionics, attended at the least by severely limited career prospects.
Luckily, the fix is easy. Set your email server to restrict the size of incoming and outgoing messages. Fine-tune settings for legitimate large-attachment users. Give the boss whatever the boss wants.
It’s one of the quickest, easiest, cheapest ways you’ll ever find to get a raise. And you may save some colleagues’ resumes.
