Forget Windows… Linux… Even Unix. What a cracker really loves is a monolithic, single vendor network. Just pull out one set of focused lock-picks, and bingo! Free to do those nasty things black hats do once they’re inside the firewall.
So how can a savvy admin slow ‘em down?
One technique: Deploy a variety of security systems from a spread of vendors… each in its own box with its own operating system.
Can a hacker still bust your door down? Maybe. But you’ll make it a lot tougher.
