Mail server slowing down, Bubba?
What a surprise. Last count, there were “nine versions of Bagle, six versions of Netsky and seven versions of Mydoom” currently in circulation, along with Bizex, Welchia.D and fresh exploits aimed at IMail servers and DameWare. This despite several years of admonitions to keep up-to-date anti-virus software on every pc and server in your network.
It’s those doggoned users, right? Sort of. But managing endusers is like herding two year olds. It never works for long. Thus, trying to keep every single virus entry point with web-access perfectly up-to-date and secure is virtually impossible.
So it’s up to you. Set up an easy-to-use ftp site and show endusers how to use it. Then set your spam-and-content filter to delete attachments.
Call it “Tough Love”. It works.
